October is one of those months with a little bit of everything. It’s LGBTQ+ History Month, giving us a chance to look back at the people and stories that helped get us here and to celebrate the young people who are writing the next chapters right now.
It’s also a pretty fun month around Prism. Wig Walk is back for its fourth year and Boo Blvd is bringing all the Halloween fun with our second annual trunk or treat!
We’ve got a lot to celebrate this month, and we’d love for you to be part of it. Come hang out with us, bring a friend, and see what’s happening at Prism this October!

Come Out Mobile 2026 was one for the books!
We filled The Locale for a night of good food, music, performances, a very lively auction, and a whole lot of joy.
One of our favorite parts of Come Out Mobile is getting to pause the party for a little while and recognize people who have helped shape our community. This year, we were proud to honor four Trailblazers:
✨ Ron Barrett
✨ Jerry Ehlen
✨ Patricia “Bizz” Carlton
✨ Jerry Grady, in memoriam
Each of them has shown up for this community in their own way, creating space, opening doors, and making life a little better for the generations who follow in their footsteps.
And, of course, if you know Ron, you know there was absolutely no way he was going to let us throw a party in his honor without decorating it himself. Ron Barrett LLC and team made the room look incredible, Stevie’s Kitchen kept everyone fed, DJ TAY Entertainment kept us dancing, Champagne Munroe brought the house down, and our community bartenders Jimmothy and Savannah kept the drinks flowing.
Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, donors, auction contributors, and everyone who came out and made the night what it was!
It’s important to us that we keep telling these stories. LGBTQ+ history is local history, too, and so much of it lives in the people who have spent years making Mobile a more welcoming and joyful place to call home.
Here’s to the people who helped get us here, the people carrying it forward, and a really good reason to throw a party!

From intern to facilitator, Ashtyn (he/him) has continued to invest in the young people who make Prism such a special place. This month, we’re proud to recognize him as our Facilitator of the Month.
Ashtyn joined the Prism volunteer community in January 2026 while completing his psychology degree at the University of South Alabama. As an intern, he helped develop Prism’s LGBTQ+ local history archive and co-facilitated our Teens program.
After completing his internship, Ashtyn decided to remain on the Teens facilitator team to continue fulfilling his desire to contribute to the healthy development of the youth within our community.
We’re grateful that Ashtyn chose to continue his journey with Prism and for the time, care, and consistency he brings to our Teens program. Thank you for helping create a space where LGBTQ+ youth can grow, connect, and be themselves!
Want to be part of creating that kind of space for young people? We’re always looking for caring, consistent volunteers to join our facilitator team.
