Empowering LGBTQ+ Youth with Affirming Care
Too many LGBTQ+ youth and families know what it’s like to search for help and come up short. Cost, limited access, and a lack of affirming providers can make care feel out of reach or not worth pursuing at all.
At pivotal moments, these barriers can prevent young people from getting the support they need.
In 2022, Prism launched the Healing Fund to begin addressing these gaps, laying the foundation for a growing network of affirming providers and expanded access to care. In 2026, Prism was awarded a $37,500 grant through the Johnson Family Foundation x CenterLink Mental Health Capacity-Building Initiative to expand this work, strengthening the Healing Network and increasing access to affirming care for LGBTQ+ youth ages 14–24.

How it Works
We’ve built a simple, connected system:
1. Prism Healing Network
A network of affirming providers who understand and support LGBTQ+ youth, young adults, and families.
2. Prism Healing Fund
Financial and practical support that helps remove barriers to care so folks can actually start and continue services.
Together, they make care more accessible, consistent, and real.

STI/HIV Testing
In collaboration with AIDS Alabama South and the Mobile County Health Department, Prism provides confidential on-site STI/HIV testing and education tailored for LGBTQ+ high-schoolers. Our mission extends beyond testing; we aspire to combat stigma associated with HIV and foster the well-being of HIV+ youth. We firmly believe that effective control of STIs/HIV involves dismantling barriers that impede access to testing and care. Moreover, we advocate for the empowerment of interested youth through comprehensive education on STIs, safe sex practices, and available resources to prevent HIV transmission.
