May is Community Action Month, a time to come together, speak up, and spark change. Across the Gulf Coast, Prism is lifting up youth voices, celebrating bold self-expression, and building stronger community ties.

We’ll begin by sharing truth and creativity at Open Book, our collaborative youth storytelling event led by students from Davidson High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA). Then, we’ll break bread and build community at the Solidarity Potluck Picnic, a gathering of local LGBTQ+ organizations from across southwest Alabama. This is a chance to connect with community leaders, hear from inspiring speakers, and learn how we can navigate challenges and build safer spaces together.

And finally, we’ll step into the spotlight for Bent Broadway—a bold, gender-bending musical showcase that reimagines tradition and officially launches Pride Month here in Mobile. With three performances, including a special Pride matinee, this year’s production sets the stage for a season of visibility, joy, and surprises still to come.
