May 2026 Newsletter

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Prism, that means more than naming the need. It means doing the work to support mental health while making space for healing in real, tangible ways. From affirming therapy and resource access to weekly programs where youth can show up as they are, this is what care looks like in practice.

Because healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in spaces that are safe and consistent, spaces built with intention for and by the folks that need them.

That work continues to grow this month. We’re sharing meaningful updates on the Prism Healing Fund as it expands to reach more youth and provide more flexible, affirming care. We’re also excited to announce our 2nd Annual Prism Pride Artist Showcase, creating space for LGBTQ+ artists to share their work and stories with the community.

And as we move into Pride, Prism is part of the team helping bring Mobile to life through Alive with Pride, a month-long celebration of visibility, connection, and community. There’s a lot ahead, and we’re glad you’re in it with us.

As we finally descend from Mount Olympus, we’re filled with so much gratitude for everyone who brought Prism Prom 2026: Night on Olympus to life.

We keep coming back to the feeling in the room. The ease, the joy, the way people showed up as themselves without hesitation. That doesn’t happen by accident. We’re really grateful for the people who made that possible:

✨ To every young person who showed up as their full, brilliant self, you made the night what it was. Thank you for your joy, your energy, your outfits, your dancing, your everything.
✨ To our volunteers who showed up early, stayed late, and handled a hundred moving pieces with care and heart, we could not do this without you.
✨ To our sponsors and community partners who stepped up to make this event free and accessible, you made something truly special possible.
✨ To the folks behind the scenes who brought the vision to life, from decor to logistics to all the tiny details, you created magic.
✨ And to this community that continues to show up, support, and believe in LGBTQ+ youth here in Mobile, thank you.

Big things are coming for the Prism Healing Fund this month. We’re expanding access, strengthening support, and creating more ways for LGBTQ+ youth to get the care they need.

Stay tuned…
