November 2026 Newsletter

Many hands placed together in a circle, with the text “November 2026 THE GOOD WE DO TOGETHER” overlaid.

October gave us a lot to celebrate! Wig Walk made a splash and raised over $30,000 for LGBTQ+ youth, while Boo Blvd brought more than 150 people out for a night of Halloween fun. We’re still looking back on both events, but one thing is clear: we’re lucky to have a community that shows up the way ours does.

That brings us to November’s theme, Care in Action. Whether it’s showing up for an event, checking in on a friend, or making space for someone to feel welcome, the little things matter just as much as the big ones.

This month, we’re talking about what it looks like to put that care into practice and all the good we can do together.

A group of people wearing colorful wigs and costumes at an outdoor event labeled “Wig Walk 2026.”

Wig Walk 2026 raised over $30,000 for Prism United! What an incredible community effort! We’re still celebrating everything that made this year’s Wig Walk so special, and we have a LOT of people to thank.

First, let’s talk about what we accomplished together:

🌈 375 donors
🌈 90 individual fundraisers
🌈 15 fundraising teams
🌈 8 teams raised over $1,000
🌈 And for the first time in Wig Walk her-story, a team raised over $10,000 on their own!

A HUGE congratulations to the ever-fearless D-Namite! for making Wig Walk her-story, and a special shoutout to our top three individual fundraisers: Angelica Zamdio, Daniel McGhee, and Robbie McGhee!

Thank you to our sponsors, Pride@Airbus and Culver’s Mobile, for supporting this year’s event!

Of course, Wig Walk wouldn’t be Wig Walk without the downtown businesses that open their doors and help us make this event happen. To our 12 amazing venue partners, thank you! We hope everyone who joined us will keep showing these businesses some love throughout the year. Consider this your downtown shortlist:

Alabama Music Box | B-Bob’s | Braided River Brewing Co. | deMaiz Taco Cantina | Flip Side Bar & Patio | Gabriel’s Downtown | The Haberdasher | Oyster City Brewing Company | The Outsider | Penton’s Bistro & The King Bleu Corner Bar | POST | Serda’s Coffee Company

An extra special thank you to Braided River Brewing Co. for once again being such a wonderful host and helping us bring it all together!

And we have to thank the folks who made the After Party so much fun! Entertainment Ignited brought the fire, DJ TAY kept the music going, Cody Copeland brought the live music, and Champagne Munroe gave us an incredible performance!

Finally, to everyone who donated, fundraised, volunteered, showed up in a wig, or cheered us on along the way, thank you.

More than $30,000 raised means more opportunities for Prism United to support LGBTQ+ young people and their families across Southwest Alabama. Every dollar will help us continue the work of building a community where young people feel safe, supported, and celebrated.

We’re so grateful for everyone who made this possible. See you at Wig Walk 2027!

More than 150 people joined us for an evening of costumes, candy, games, and Halloween fun at this year’s Boo Blvd!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to decorate a trunk and make the night special, and to Twist Sushi for joining us and keeping everyone fed!

A special thank you to our wonderful volunteer team, who give so much of their time to Prism. We truly couldn’t do this work without you, and we’re so grateful for everything you do.

As Prism United continues to grow our Healing Network and expand access to mental health care through the Prism Healing Fund, we want to make sure LGBTQ+ young people of color are part of that conversation.

Culture, identity, and community all play a role in how we experience mental health and access care. We want to hear about your experiences, what support looks like for you, and how we can make our services more accessible, relevant, and welcoming.

We’re looking for participants who:✨ Are youth or young adults, ages 16-24
✨ Identify as both LGBTQ+ and are a person of color
✨ Live in Mobile, Alabama, or surrounding counties

Your experiences can help shape how we support young people in our community, and we’d love to hear from you!
