October is LGBTQ+ History Month, a time to honor the trailblazers who carved pathways of courage and resilience. Their stories remind us that we are part of a long, spirited history of advocacy, joy, and community.
That same spirit shone brightly last month at Come Out Mobile, where our community gathered in record numbers to celebrate resilience, authenticity, and belonging. The success of this year’s event was a testament to the power of visibility, collective joy, and the hope we carry forward together.
We also launched Prism United’s 2025 Annual Report, reflecting on a year of growth, impact, and the milestones we’ve reached together. It’s a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much more we can accomplish.
Now, as we step into October, we keep that energy alive with the wigs and wonder of Wig Walk and the festive fun of Boo Boulevard, building on the momentum of our shared history and leaning into the fabulous futures ahead.
Read on for the highlights, and know that you can always reach us at info@prismunited.org.

Prism Pathways is Prism United’s new young adult program for ages 19-24, offering space to connect, create, and build community. The program blends social gatherings with hands-on projects, giving young adults the chance to explore identity, develop skills, and help shape future events. Because this is a new initiative, we’ll also be gathering input from participants to make Prism Pathways the best program it can be.
The program kicks off with a Halloween Craft Night and interest meeting on Wednesday,October 22, where participants can bring costumes or crafts, use shared resources like a sewing machine, and collaborate with peers while envisioning what’s next.

Join us for October’s Prism Families event, ✨ Boo Boulevard ✨, a festive Trunk or Treat happening Saturday, October 25, from 4-7pm. Everyone is invited to attend or volunteer as we line up decorated car trunks filled with candy and fall fun for kids, teens, families, and pets! The evening will also feature festive activities, hot chocolate, and contests, including Best Decorated Trunk, Best Dressed Pet, and Best Costume.

Prism United’s 3rd Annual Report is here! From affirming programs to bold events and youth-led projects, this past fiscal year moved our mission forward:
✨ 772 program attendances, with youth leaving more hopeful, less anxious, and more connected
✨ 81 young people celebrated Prism Prom, a night created just for them
✨ Over 800 community members joined us for Bent Broadway, Come Out Mobile, and Wig Walk, raising tens of thousands to fuel this mission
✨ We launched the Prism Leadership Initiative, with youth leading projects from documenting queer history to building Little Free Libraries
✨ And despite economic challenges, our community stepped up, growing Prism’s revenue by 57%
The truest measure of our impact isn’t in numbers, but in the voices of our youth, with one teen sharing:
“[Prism has] given me hope and a chance to feel loved and accepted during a time in history that feels dark and uncertain.”
When the world feels heavy, young people carry that weight most. Their words remind us why this work matters, and why the power of what we build together is essential.

We’re proud to celebrate The Mobile Medical Museum as our October PLAN Partner of the Month! Founded in 1962, the museum preserves and presents Mobile’s rich history of medicine through fascinating exhibits and artifacts dating back to the 1700s. More than a collection, The Museum is an educational space that sparks curiosity, connects generations, and highlights the vital role of healthcare in shaping our community.
We’re grateful to The Mobile Medical Museum for their partnership and for showing that history, healing, and inclusion go hand in hand.
