Prism is actively looking for a space in Mobile that can double as an LGBTQ+ community center AND a drop-in center. The community center will be operated by Rainbow Mobile and the drop-in center by Prism United. Having a drop-in center will allow Prism to serve housing-insecure youth by providing access to food, showers, a washer/dryer, computers, case management services, and more. It will also give Prism a dedicated space to carry out support group gatherings and host special events for youth and parents.
Our first order of business is to find a space. If you or anyone you know might be able to help us locate a building, please let us know by shooting us an email at [email protected]. We’d like to establish the community/drop-in center in midtown or downtown Mobile.
An endeavor of such enormous consequence won’t be possible without the greater involvement of the community. We hope you’ll join us as a volunteer or with a donation as we work to make this dream a reality.
