Volunteer for Prism

Prism United is powered by people who show up for LGBTQ+ youth. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to get involved, volunteering is a direct way to make an impact.

We accept volunteer applications on a rolling basis, with all new volunteers attending a brief orientation to get connected, trained, and placed on a team. Orientations are offered quarterly.

Orientation dates for 2026 are:

Wednesday, March 18, 2026
Wednesday, May 13, 2026
Wednesday, September 9, 2026
Wednesday, December 9, 2026

Volunteer Teams

Volunteers at Prism are organized into teams, each with a specific role in supporting our programs and events. After orientation, you’ll be placed on a team based on your interests and availability.

All teams are supported by staff and designed to be flexible, so you can contribute in a way that fits your schedule.

Facilitator Team — work directly with youth in programs

Chaperone Team — support safety and supervision

Event Team — help plan and execute events

Nutrition Team — provide meals and snacks

Outreach Team — build community connections

Prism is an organization I wish I would’ve had as a young teen.

Facilitator Team

The Facilitator Team is the heart of Prism’s programs. This is our most in-depth volunteer role, working directly with LGBTQ+ youth to guide conversations, lead activities, and create spaces where young people feel safe and supported.

Facilitators complete additional training and a background check, and gain access to professional development, potential certifications, and meaningful, skill-building experience.
