LGBTQ-Competent Professionals

When LGBTQ youth and their parents need professional services, they are often faced with the discomforting reality that many mental health, medical, and legal professionals are inadequately equipped to serve LGBTQ individuals. What’s worse, youth occasionally encounter professionals who are emphatically non-affirming at times when support is most crucial to them.

We don’t believe that seeking help should be such a difficult endeavor.

Prism is building a network of LGBTQ-competent therapists, health professionals, and lawyers in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Before we include such professionals in our network, we ask them to fill out a survey so that we can refer with confidence. Need a referral? Email us at info@prismunited.org.

Join Our Network!

If you happen to be a therapist, health professional, or lawyer who’s both affirming and educated on LGBTQ issues as they relate to your field, we hope you’ll join our network! To complete our screening process, shoot us an email at director@prismunited.org.

Will Gentry Memorial Fund

Prism is the honored recipient of the The Will Gentry Memorial Fund. The fund was created by the family of Will Gentry to benefit the underserved LGBTQ teens of our community. Donations made in his name will be set aside and used to subsidize the cost of therapy and other services for youth who cannot afford them. Will’s family and friends wish to remember the life of a man who touched our world in a way no one else could. As a dedicated teacher and mentor to high school students, he strived to make a difference in the lives of those he cared for. Through this fund, he continues to have an impact on youth in the city where he was born and raised.

PRISM UNITED

Prism United responds to the comprehensive needs of LGBTQ youth. Specifically, Prism works to mitigate the psychological, socio-economic, and academic disadvantages caused by repression and victimization.
